Why: As a volunteer for 826LA, I had the pleasure of performing as the ominous voice of Professor Barnacle, the cranky boss of Barnacle & Barnacle Publishing, as part of the Book-Making field trips for typically 4th and 5th grade classes. When the pandemic closed the in-person field trips for the foreseeable future, I reached out to the team at 826LA and asked if they’d be interested in teaming up to create a series of YouTube videos where a “Barnacle relative” would read stories on the platform to children of all ages stuck at home. They loved the idea, and with the use of a green screen and old man wig and glasses, I created the character of “Librarian Barnacle”, and had a blast reading children’s books and rooting for the bad guys.
